General Team Roles & Volunteer Opportunities

Complete a Volunteer Application Form to get started. Applications open February 25, 2026, and spots fill quickly—don’t miss your chance to be part of this year’s Wicked Woods Crew.

  • All-Rounders are the versatile, go-to volunteers who jump in wherever they’re needed. From supporting different departments, covering no-shows, helping with setup or takedown, to lending an extra pair of hands during busy moments, you’ll be ready for anything the festival throws your way.

This role is perfect for people who love variety, adapt quickly, and want to experience as many different sides and aspects of the festival as possible. You should enjoy moving between departments, trying new tasks, and helping out wherever gaps appear. Volunteers in this department shouldn’t mind getting their hands dirty, but what matters most is a flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to switch between tasks smoothly.

Shifts run 2–9 September, and you may find yourself working across multiple departments or supporting different teams even within a single shift.

  • Wicked Woods Ambassadors are the first point of contact for guests entering the festival grounds. They set the tone for the entire event by embodying the PLUR ethos and providing clear, calm, and welcoming communication. This role is suited to confident, self-motivated volunteers with strong communication skills, situational awareness, patience, and the ability to problem-solve both independently and as part of a team. Ambassadors must be comfortable answering questions, giving directions, and escalating issues appropriately.

Due to the responsibility of this role, Ambassadors must have attended at least two Wicked Woods festivals, including one within the last three editions, and arrive onsite with a strong working knowledge of the festival site and operations. This position is not open to first-time attendees.

    Shifts are available 1 - 7 Septmeber.

  • Art & Installations volunteers work closely with the production and visual art teams to bring the festival’s creative vision to life. From assisting with setting up murals, installations, and the Festival Gallery pre-show, to managing art spaces during showtime, and helping with teardown post-show, you’ll be at the heart of the festival’s creative arts.

This role is perfect for artists and creatives. Volunteers in this department take on a variety of tasks, including gallery administration, facilitating live painters, assisting with art and decor construction projects (power tools and construction experience beneficial), managing inventory, and acting as a point of contact for art & installation crews.

Volunteers should have an art or creative background, whether in construction, hands-on creative work, or guest-facing roles.

    Shifts run 30 August – 13 September.

  • Artist Relations volunteers work with the Artist Relations team to coordinate artist hospitality and performances, helping ensure artists have everything they need before and during their time at the festival.

This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment. It’s perfect for people who enjoy working with artists, have patience, great customer service skills, and can communicate effectively with a variety of people. Experience working with artists, especially in event settings, is highly beneficial.

We have a strong returning Artist Relations crew, so limited volunteer spots are available in this department. Plan a second-choice department.

    Shifts run 30 August – 10 September.

  • Concessions & Merch volunteers help keep the festival running smoothly by providing guests with essentials and merchandise, from coffee and snacks to electrolytes and festival gear. You’ll be selling merch or working in our concession outlets, ensuring guests have what they need while keeping operations organized and efficient.

This role is perfect for people with retail or hospitality experience who are reliable, organized, and confident handling cash and operating POS systems. Volunteers will perform cash-outs, track and monitor stock, communicate clearly with team members, and assist guests with their purchases. An outgoing, friendly, and positive attitude is essential, as you’ll be interacting directly with festival-goers and helping make their experience enjoyable.

  • Electrical volunteers are a key part of the team that keeps the festival powered and running smoothly. This role is perfect for certified electrical professionals or anyone with significant electrical experience who enjoys working with a resourceful, hands-on team. Electrical qualifications or professional experience are a must for this department.

You’ll help install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems across the site, ensuring that lights, installations, and equipment stay safe and operational throughout the festival.

    Shifts run 29 August – 9 September.

  • Environment Volunteers play a vital role in keeping the festival grounds clean, sustainable, and eco-friendly. You will help maintain a welcoming environment by collecting litter, emptying bins, and ensuring recycling and composting stations are properly used. Volunteers may also assist with general site cleanup and educate attendees about the festival’s sustainability initiatives to help minimize environmental impact.

This role is active and hands-on, so volunteers should be comfortable on their feet for long periods, working as part of a team, and taking a proactive approach to keeping the festival grounds green, safe, and inviting.

    Shifts run 30 August - 13 September.

  • Gate volunteers are the first point of contact, welcoming guests as they arrive at Wicked Woods. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who can keep the vibes high while efficiently relaying key information and directions, ensuring everyone starts their festival experience on a great note. Tasks for Gate volunteers include scanning tickets, checking wristbands, handling cash, managing wristband stock, and helping keep the entry line moving quickly and smoothly.

Strong customer service skills are important for this team, and previous experience working gate shifts at Wicked Woods or other festivals is definitely beneficial. Volunteers in this role should excel in fast-paced environments and feel comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather.

    Shifts are showtime-only, running Wednesday 2nd – Sunday 6th.

  • Glamping Volunteers deliver front-line customer service and ensure a smooth, welcoming experience for glamping guests. They check in guests during load-in, direct them to the correct glamping campsites, and work with the Parking Team to guide vehicles to designated glamping parking areas. During the festival, this team acts as a concierge service —assisting guest needs, answering questions, and helping maintain an organized and comfortable glamping environment. Volunteers may also support light beautification of glamping zones alongside the Site Decor team.

This role is ideal for friendly, detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy working with people and are comfortable working outdoors. Customer service experience is beneficial.

    This is a showtime-only crew with shifts running 2 - 7 September.

  • HR & Administration volunteers support the behind-the-scenes operations that keep the festival running smoothly. This team assists with managing festival staff and volunteers, maintaining records, and providing general administrative support.

We’re looking for volunteers with strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized and friendly in a fast-paced environment. Experience with office administration is required, and proficiency in Excel and Google Workspace is essential. Previous or current experience in administrative or HR roles is an asset.

Shifts for this department run between 21 August – 11 September, with a variety of pre-show, showtime, and post-show responsibilities.

  • Info Booth / Lost & Found Volunteers are part of the Ambassador Team and serve as trusted points of information for festival attendees. These volunteers are beacons of knowledge, supporting guests with questions, directions, lost items, and general assistance throughout the event.

To ensure a high level of accurate and helpful information, volunteers in this role must arrive with an in-depth knowledge of Wicked Woods, its layout, and festival operations. For this reason, this position is not open to first-time Wicked Woods attendees or first-time volunteers. This role is ideal for highly personable volunteers who enjoy engaging with guests, sharing their festival experience, and providing calm, friendly support. Shifts are showtime only, and the role is mostly stationary, making it well-suited for volunteers who prefer limited physical labour or have mobility considerations.

    Shifts run 1 - 8 September.

  • Kitchen volunteers are the heart of the festival’s crew and volunteer catering, helping ensure everyone is well-fed and energized throughout the event. You’ll assist with meal preparation, distribution, and general kitchen operations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.

This role requires kitchen or food-handling experience, and FoodSafe or other hospitality qualifications are highly beneficial. Volunteers need to be able to stand for entire shifts and work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Experience in festivals, events, or large-scale kitchens is also highly valuable.

As part of the kitchen team, some roles will focus on catering duties, checking meal eligibility and serving food to crew and volunteers. For these roles, a friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential. Front of house/serving experience is beneficial.

Shifts run 24 August – 16 September. Any volunteers with post-show–only shifts for this department are required to pay a deposit or be in excellent standing with the festival.

  • Outreach volunteers help maintain a safe and supportive environment across the festival grounds. Outreach teams patrol the site in pairs from designated outposts, offering safer-party information and supplies, checking in on guests, and providing support wherever needed.

Ideal applicants have experience in harm reduction or mental health support, or education in Social Work, Nursing, Human Services, or Counselling. As per festival policy, applicants may be asked to provide a Police Information Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Check dated within the last 18 months.

Shifts for this department run between 2–9 September, and volunteers must be available for showtime shifts.

  • Parking volunteers help manage the safe and efficient flow of vehicles as guests arrive and depart from the festival. They direct drivers to designated parking areas, assist with maintaining an organized layout, and help keep traffic moving smoothly throughout the site. This role also supports camping operations by guiding festival-goers into available spaces within camping zones and directing reserved campsite patrons to their assigned sites.

Volunteers in this position provide clear directions, answer basic questions, and help ensure camping areas remain orderly and accessible. This role is ideal for people who communicate clearly, stay calm in busy environments, enjoy working outdoors, and are comfortable being on their feet for extended periods.

    Shifts run 31 August - 8 September.

  • The Post-Show Teardown Team plays a crucial role in bringing the festival grounds back to life after the event. Volunteers work alongside the Environment Team and other site crews to take down glamping tents, remove signage, load transportation, and sort recycling and waste, helping restore the site safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on, physical role, so volunteers should be prepared for extended outdoor work and manual labour following the festival. To support you during these busy days, additional meals will be provided.

All Post-Show Teardown volunteers must be well-rested and either pay a deposit or be in excellent standing with the festival. Join this team to make a lasting impact and help close out the festival on a high note!

    Shifts run 7 - 13 September.

  • Sanctuary volunteers provide a calm, non-judgmental space for guests who need a break from festival stimulation. This team supports attendees who may be overwhelmed, helping them feel grounded, safe, and cared for.

Ideal applicants have experience in harm reduction or mental health support, or education in Social Work, Nursing, Human Services, or Counselling. Shifts for this department run between 2–9 September, and volunteers must be available for showtime shifts.

  • Shower Department volunteers help keep everyone clean, safe, and refreshed—making a huge difference in the Wicked Woods experience. You’ll be operating the shower trailer during showtime, helping the community shine a little brighter.

On shift, you’ll be responsible for checking shower passes and crew credentials to ensure everything runs smoothly, monitoring cleanliness and safety inside and around the trailer, and reporting any issues or incidents promptly so they can be resolved quickly.

This role is perfect for people who are organized, reliable, and happy to work behind the scenes to support the festival community. You’ll also get to meet and chat with festival-goers while doing minimal manual labour, making it a social, hands-on way to contribute. You might not be on stage, but your work will be hugely appreciated by everyone attending.

    Shifts are showtime-only, 3 – 8 September.

  • Site Team volunteers help prepare, maintain, and pack down the festival grounds so everything is ready for guests and restored after the event. This role supports site operations by assisting with a wide range of setup, maintenance, and teardown tasks as priorities shift throughout the day. The position involves hands-on, physical work, and volunteers must be comfortable performing manual labour throughout the day.

Team members should be prepared to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, work outdoors in changing conditions, and move between tasks as needed. The Site Team often jumps between jobs and plays a key role in keeping the festival build running smoothly.

Applicants are encouraged to note any relevant skills or experience in their application, as this helps with task assignments during build and operations.

    Shifts run 22 August - 13 September.

  • Site Decor Volunteers are part of Site Operations and are responsible for the beautification of the festival grounds, creating welcoming and immersive spaces for all guests. This is a separate team from the Art & Installations crew and focuses on bringing the festival environment to life through hands-on design and decorative work. This team works outdoors alongside other Site Operations crews to ensure festival spaces are both functional for wayfinding and visually engaging. Volunteers help set up glamping zones, arranging bedding, decor, lighting, fairy lights, and other creative details to make each space inviting. They also create signage that complements the festival and natural surroundings while helping maintain safe and organized grounds. Site Decor Volunteers help shape the vibe of the festival, turning spaces into vibrant, memorable areas.

Volunteers should be comfortable working outdoors, crafting in a dynamic environment, and collaborating across teams. Artists and creatively minded volunteers are highly encouraged to apply!

Shifts are pre-show only, running 22 August - 4 September.

  • Stage Crew volunteers help build and maintain our four immersive stages! Most of our stage crews are solid returning volunteers, so very limited spots are available.

Main roles for new applicants—unless they have extensive live-event production or management experience—will be Stagekeepers, who assist with keeping equipment organized and look after the stage and gear during downtime/off-performance periods, or Gatekeepers, who operate the backstage VIP gates.

If you are extremely reliable and happy to safeguard a stage for the majority of your shift during off-performance periods, this could be your foot in the door to becoming part of the stage crew and learning about event production.

If you have extensive production experience, we encourage you to apply to assist our stage crews during performance and production times. Due to limited availability, we recommend planning a second-choice department.

  • Trails Team Volunteers help build, maintain, and improve the trail network throughout the festival grounds, ensuring safe access and clear wayfinding for all guests. This includes rebuilding and reinforcing trails, improving accessibility, hanging trail lighting, and installing signage to guide festival-goers around the site.

As part of the Site Operations team, Trails Volunteers may also support other site tasks as needed. This role involves consistent hands-on manual labour, including digging, moving logs, and working outdoors for the duration of each shift. Shifts for the Trails Team are pre-show and are ideal for volunteers who enjoy physical work, working in natural environments, and contributing to the foundation of the festival experience.

    Shifts run 22 August - 4 September.

  • Water/Hydration Volunteers are part of Site Team operations and help ensure all festival water services and hydration amenities stay accessible and functional throughout the event. This showtime role includes setting up and maintaining hydration stations, assisting attendees with water access, supporting showers, and helping maintain dust-control systems. Volunteers also help guide water trucks, assist with filling large water and dust-control tankers, and manage grey water from showers.

This role requires being on your feet for the duration of shifts, performing manual labor, and lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly. Crew members should be comfortable moving between tasks and helping maintain the integrity of the festival’s water and dust-control systems.

Shifts are predominately showtime, running 1 - 7 September.
